Years ago I was so allergic to dustmites I needed weekly desensitisation injections. I was on strong nasal steroid sprays too which has really messed with my sense of smell. Often someone would say something stinks but I'm not even flinching - it has it's benefits.
Anyway if you've always wondered why artists sometimes draw or paint the most random things, it probably means something to them or has affected their life in some way. It's just not always easy to communicate with words so artists say things like Oh I'm leaving it to the audience to interpret things their way. That's become the standard reply, I've often used myself. Words are so slippery they often make me cringe. But I do find it's just practice, the more you use your words the clearer they become (even if it's just to you, hurrah).
